Opportunities for Student Employment

Resident Assistant (RA)

  • The Resident Assistant is a paraprofessional staff member for the Office of Residential Life. Under the supervision of the Office of Residential Life, RAs are the closest  and most vital link to residents living on campus. The duties of the RA vary each week however, it is required that students work an average of 10 hours per week. RAs should be a positive role model on behalf of Dalton State College. The position includes opportunities and responsibilities that lie in the areas of staff development, teamwork, interpersonal skills, and administration skills. The RA position needs to be prioritized following academic responsibilities (i.e. class-time, internships, practicums, etc.). All outside employment must be reviewed and approved by the Office of Residential Life. RAs will be required to submit a comprehensive schedule upon the beginning of each term.
  • Minimum 2.25 GPA Requirement.

Office Assistant 

  • Student will work at the front desk of the office. Applicants must be flexible to work between 9:00 AM-7:00 PM Monday-Friday as well as some weekends, as needed.  The student office assistant would manage any office inquiries during hours of operation, create flyers for programs, and assist with programs and housing assignments.
  • Minimum 2.25 GPA Requirement.

 

Facility Assistant

  • Student will assist with building and room inspections, preparation, and general maintenance.  Responsibilities include:  minor furniture repair, light bulb replacement, facility and grounds cleaning, storage room inventory and maintenance.  Additional duties include the physical inspection of facilities and inventory of department property and may also include movement of bedroom, lounge, and public area furniture as assigned.
