The Alternative Breaks program through the Office of Student Life strives to build conscious leaders and citizens through programs that educate participants on environmental, social, and global issues. Students participate in service learning and reflection, while providing direct service. Alternative Spring Break applications will be available in December.
This year the Office of Student Life will be sponsoring the annual Fall Break trip to Durham, NC. While in North Carolina students will have the opportunity to work with Habitat for Humanity to build houses and learn about the urban environment of Durham. No experience with Habitat for Humanity or working with construction is needed prior to the trip. We work alongside professionals.
For more information on Habitat for Humanity and their mission please visit http://www.durhamhabitat.org/
Cost of the trip is $50 non-refundable deposit that will cover transportation, lodging, and most meals. The trip will be held during fall break so students will not be missing any classes. Students will leave on Friday, October 10 and return on Tuesday, October 14.
